Resources for our families
It is natural for parents (both new and experienced) to have questions and concerns. Our For Parents section is here to try and help address some of the more common issues we are often asked as pediatricians.
A Letter From Us Regarding COVID 19
As your child’s healthcare clinicians, we are doing everything we can to ensure the safety of our patients and staff. From the beginning of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak, we’ve been working closely with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Georgia Department of Public Health and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta to stay up to date with the latest information.
If you (or a member of your household) have recently traveled to areas where there are ongoing outbreaks of COVID-19 (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/after-travel-precautions.html) and develop fever with cough and shortness of breath within 14 days of your travel, or if you have had contact with someone who is suspected to have COVID-19, please stay home and call your healthcare clinician for guidance.
If your child develops fever with cough and shortness of breath within 14 days of your travel, please call our office at 404-446-4726 for triage. We are currently unable to test for COVID-19 in our offices, however we are in contact with the Department of Public Health in the event a patient meets criteria for testing.
We are developing a protocol for telephone triage and hope to have telemedicine in place within the week. Please bear with us as we implement additional questioning at the time of scheduling your child’s appointment.
We will be transitioning all well-child visits to the morning sessions at both locations. We will only see sick children between the hours of 1:30 p.m. to closing. If you have a well-child check, physical, or follow-up currently scheduled in the afternoon please anticipate a call from us to reschedule that appointment. If you or your child is coughing we will ask you to wear a mask while in the office. We may have to temporarily change our office hours to accommodate this change and will update you if that occurs.
We have removed all toys and books from the exam rooms. We have implemented heightened efforts to sanitize all surfaces after each patient in each exam room and have increased the frequency of cleaning surfaces in the reception areas, restrooms and other public areas.
Please do not go to Children’s Healthcare or a local urgent care for COVID-19 testing. If you have questions regarding your child’s risks or symptoms, please call our office. In addition, if you are limiting your exposure to the public or would like to reschedule your appointment for any other reason, we will be happy to do that and, if necessary, provide refills by request. If you have any other questions about your visit or scheduling a visit, contact us through Healow or call the office directly.
Thank you for choosing Intown Pediatrics as your child’s healthcare provider. This situation is changing on an ongoing basis; we will continue to update you as new and pertinent information is available. We are doing all we can to keep you and everyone in our communities safe and healthy.
